When I was elected Mayor of Kenilworth last May I expressed the hope that very soon, and definitely during my Mayoral year, our government would negotiate the release of the British citizen Nazanin Zaghari Ratcliffe who has now been held hostage in Iran for more than 1,750 days.
Nazanin has close family relatives living not far from Kenilworth and she longs to come back to the UK, to be with her husband and young daughter.

Kenilworth Liberal Democrats have announced that the popular local community champion Alison Insley will be their candidate in the forthcoming town council by-election in St John's Ward.
Ms Insley, a Kenilworth resident of more than 30 years who is married and has a son away at university, has recently taken early retirement from her job at Warwickshire County Council Library and Information Service.

People with learning disabilities are being encouraged to get the Covid-19 vaccination in this new video produced by the Coventry and Warwickshire Vaccination programme.
The video was produced in response to feedback from local people with learning disabilities who told staff that one of the main reasons they didn't want to get a vaccine is because of a fear of needles.

Local artists and creatives are being invited to register their interest to display their work in an upcoming exhibition in the empty 'Poundland' unit on Kenilworth's Warwick Road.
The exhibition is being organised by Nicola Bagga who helped to put together the gallery of Kenilworth Castle paintings at the start of 2021.

In late January 1327, a group of lords met with an important prisoner who had been held within Kenilworth Castle since before Christmas.
For the last two decades this individual had ruled England as Edward II, but these lords were about to formally withdraw support for the king in favour of his 14-year-old son.
