Staff and students taking part in Kenilworth School's lockdown running challenge have been given an extra boost as captain of Liverpool Football Club, Jordan Henderson has recorded a motivational video for them.

Kenilworth School is currently raising money for NHS Charities Together through its four-week running challenge, which has seen 45 members of staff as well as a number of pupils take part.

To date, the runners have already raised over £2,600 as they reach the halfway mark.

Jordan Henderson was made the first official Champion of NHS Charities Together at the end of January, having helped to launch the #PlayersTogether fund which raised over £4million for the NHS in April 2020.

Henderson's role sees him act as an ambassador for the organisation, to help raise awareness and help with fundraising.

In his video to Kenilworth School he said: "I'd like to thank and congratulate all of the staff and pupils at Kenilworth School who are taking part in the school's running challenge for NHS Charities Together.

"If you haven't signed up don't worry, you can still take part in whatever way you can; and keep going to all those that have signed up!"

The video can be found embedded at the top of this page.

Miss Purewal who is helping to organise the event said: "Students and staff alike have been absolutely thrilled to receive Jordan's video message. It has really given us the boost we need to keep on running!

"Since sharing the video, more students and staff have joined the challenge and a number of participants have set more ambitious goals for themselves. Thank you Jordan!"
