Roadworks have been announced for a busy Kenilworth road next week as works start to create a new pedestrian crossing.

Traffic lights will be in place on Knowle Hill from Wednesday 30 October until November 5, the Warwickshire County Council (WCC) website has confirmed.

The two-way lights will be in place around the Fairway Rise junction.

WCC's website says the works are to "construct ped[estrian] crossing points and signage, including SLOW markings".

The works follows months of campaigning by local councillors, parents and Kenilworth Town Council to improve the access to the new Kenilworth School.

Ahead of the works local Liberal Democrats said on social media: "Note road works on Knowle Hill starting next week to provide a crossing point.

"This should be especially useful for students at Kenilworth School & Sixth Form helping to make their walk to and from school safer."
