Woman 'seriously injured' after crash near University of Warwick campus

A woman has been "seriously injured" following a collision with a car near the University of Warwick yesterday (May 13) afternoon.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to outside a sports centre off Kirby Corner Road - which runs through the campus.

Emergency services were called at 2.23pm on Tuesday and the woman had to be taken to hospital.

A service spokeswoman said: "Crews arrived to find a pedestrian, a woman, who had sustained serious injuries following a collision with a car.

"The team of ambulance medics worked to administer trauma care to the pedestrian to stabilise her injuries before being conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further emergency care."

An ambulance, a paramedic officer and the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was sent to the scene.
