A pedestrian has died and a woman has been arrested after a collision in South Warwickshire.

The incident happened on Warwick Road close to the Welcombe Hotel shortly after 8pm last night (March 26) and involved a white Mini.

Warwickshire Police officers attended along with the crews from West Midlands Ambulance Service but the pedestrian - a man in his 50s - had died from his injuries.

Today officers arrested a 23-year-old woman from Stratford on suspicion of causing death by careless driving.

She remains in police custody.

Investigations are under way and police are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who was driving along the road at the time with dashcam footage of the collision to get in touch.

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it was called at 7.51pm to Warwick Road and sent two ambulances, a paramedic officer and the Critical Care Car from the Air Ambulance Service to the scene.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "On arrival, crews found the pedestrian, a man, in a critical condition.

"Ambulance staff immediately began administering advanced life support but sadly, despite everyone's best efforts, he could not be saved and was confirmed dead at the scene.

"There were no other patients."
