Wickes' new store in south Warwickshire is expected to open this October, after the DIY retailer secured a 15-year lease for the new base.

Leading commercial property developer, Stoford, has leased a new 38,650 sq ft unit on off Tachbrook Road to the company.

Unit A is a net zero carbon building which has been speculatively developed at Spa Park, and has already had planning permission secured for a number of changes for Wickes.

The company joins existing occupiers at Spa Park including Berry Global, Bladon Micro Turbines, Liberty Commodities Limited, Martin Sprocket & Gear and Opus International Products.

A sign outside the new store says it will open in October 2024.

The scheme’s two remaining units range in size from 30,715 - 51,064 sq ft and are immediately available.

Edward Peel, director at Stoford: “Spa Park is an incredibly strong location that delivers best-in-class, sustainable units in a well-connected site.

"We have attracted some outstanding occupiers, with seven new units already let, and our latest transaction to Wickes is a further vote of confidence in the scheme.”

A planning application to Warwick District Council earlier this year said the unit was completed in February 2023, but had no takers until Wickes decided to move in.

"WBS has a very long-standing requirement for a new full-line branch to serve the Warwick and Royal Leamington Spa catchment," the application said.

"It is, in fact, the occupier's top locational priority in the UK making this a particularly significant acquisition for the business."

Plans show there will be a slight change of use for the unit, as well as a new entrance built and the car park reconfigured.

Wickes already has a base on Coten end in Warwick, which is predominantly a kitchen and bathroom showroom.

The firm says it will stay here until at least 2027 (when its lease ends) alongside its new unit south of the town which is expected to stock the full Wickes range.
