Incredible drone footage released by YouTube account HS2 Sky View Warwickshire has shown how HS2 works have impacted the land around Kenilworth.

The high speed rail developer is moving ahead with creating a 750-metre cutting to the north of the town, and has recently been given permission for a new bridge to carry the Kenilworth Road over the rail link.

The footage shows the bridge under construction next to the road.

It also shows how HS2 has changed the landscape on either side of Kenilworth Road, and also gives a glimpse at the new 5,000-tonne bridge installed nearby last year.

The operation to slide the 22 metres long and 11 metres wide bridge into position took five and a half hours, and was completed 27 hours ahead of schedule last summer.

The railway line from Leamington to Coventry had to be closed for the works, with the new bridge carrying the line over the HS2 cutting.

The extent of the works can all be seen in the video, which has been published on the YouTube account HS2 Sky View Warwickshire.

HS2 has also submitted an application for a new bridge to carry Crackley Lane over the new rail line.

A freedom of information (FOI) request from Nub News last year revealed over £15 million has been spent on land around Kenilworth by HS2.

The high speed rail developer has paid out £15,321,558.67 in compulsory land purchases around the CV8 postcode.

But all that money has only bought HS2 2.6 square kilometres of land, the FOI also revealed.

The footage also gives a slight glimpse towards Dalehouse Lane, which will eventually be closed for around 14 months so a new overbridge can be built. This is expected to start in 2025.
