A Victorian mansion house hotel near Kenilworth has reopened under new owners just weeks after the business went into administration.

It was announced in July that former owner of Wroxall Abbey, Trinity Hotel Ltd, had been placed in the hands of joint administrators.

Following the announcement, the hotel remained open for a few weeks before closing its doors in August.

But on September 22, following ten days of deep cleaning and maintenance, the former girls school reopened as a hotel under the management of family-run business ONS International.

Company director Paresh Thakkar - who was also involved in running the hotel with Trinity - said the focus is now on getting the business back to where it should be.

"Administration, for any business, is such a dirty word," he told Nub News.

"It has negative connotations to it but sometimes there are reasons that things have to happen."

He added: "But those community-focused ambitions we had when we first got involved are still there."

When Trinity reopened the hotel in June 2020 it invested heavily in refurbishing the 48 bedrooms, bar and restaurant.

While extensive work is still needed to get the spa reopened, attention has now turned to getting the 14th century church recommissioned.

Paresh said: "One of the things is that we are actively working hard to get the church opened up, we are really working hard with the Church of England and hoping that we can do that before Christmas.

"It's a beautiful location, it is a beautiful venue, and it's a shame that such a historic asset sits there unused."

The hotel has already hosted a couple of conferences and has started taking wedding bookings for next year.

The Wren Sports Bar is also looking set to open in time for the 2022 World Cup.

Paresh's son and fellow business director Kishan Thakkar said: "The most important thing is we are open and we are looking forward to bringing this place back to the standard that it should be at.

"This place carries a lot of heritage with it, there's that regal feel and we need to bring it back to that standard.

"There is work to be done but ultimately there are a lot of people who believe in this place and love this place for the bricks and mortar that it is."

He added: "We are just looking forward to being here and having the place buzzing again as it should be.

"When it's busy here the atmosphere is electric. It's something that we really want to get back to."

And Kishan said Wroxall now being a family-run business was something he hoped would shine through.

"When it's family there is a different view on things," he said.

"You cover for each other, you step in for each other, we are here to do things ourselves.

"I know people say they don't like to take work home with them but as a family it's what we talk about around the dinner table.

"It almost personifies this place, we want this place to have that corporate atmosphere but as well as that core family value."
