A pair of Kenilworth trees which were vandalised along a residential street have been safely removed and taken for treatment.

The trees along Farmer Ward Road, which were only planted recently, have also been replaced.

They will spend at least two years in Warwickshire County Council's (WCC) tree nursery before hopefully returning to the town.

An update from Cllr Rik Spencer, read at the last Kenilworth Town Council meeting, said: "The two vandalised trees on Farmer Ward Road have now been replaced.

"It is not an ideal time of year to plant trees, hence I will be watering them.

"The vandalised trees have been taken to the WCC nursery and are in the nursery tree hospital! If all goes well they will return to St John's division in about two years time.

"In addition I have provided funding for Lime trees to be trimmed in St John's."

Cllr Spencer secured funding for the replacement trees. One was planted via his sponsorship tree planting activity with KTC and the Warwick Tree Wardens, while the other was planted on his behalf by the WCC forestry team.
