Contraflow, 40mph speed limits and complete closures will all take place on the A46 near Kenilworth during seven weeks of roadworks from the end of July.

Highways England announced at the beginning of the month that resurfacing work was required on the A46 northbound between the junction with the M40 (J15) and the Leek Wotton / Gaveston junction.

The works are planned to start on 26 July and last until 12 September.

Highways England has today confirmed that contraflow will be in place from Saturday 7 August to Monday 23 August. There will be just one lane northbound and one lane southbound for the duration as well as an enforced 40mph speed limit.

To set up the contraflow the A46 will be fully closed between 8pm and 6am on the following dates:

- Saturday 31 July and Sunday 1 August.

- Thursday 5 August and Friday 6 August.

- Monday 23 August, Tuesday 24 August and Wednesday 25 August.

Highways England said: "During this time, the majority of our work will be carried out under lane closures, and a 24/7 contraflow system. This has been designed to reduce disruption to customers and ensure the A46 remains open.

"We'll also be working on site 24/7 which will significantly shorten the overall length of time required to complete the work compared to overnight closures."
