University of Warwick named as finalists in three categories at national green awards

By James Smith 1st Nov 2021

The University of Warwick has been named as finalists in three categories in a national green awards scheme.

The UK and Ireland Green Gown Awards recognises universities and colleges in 15 different categories relating to global sustainability.

The 2021 shortlist recognises 51 different institutions and winners will be announced in November.

Warwick has been shortlisted for the 'Campus of the Future', 'Benefiting Society' and '2030 Climate Action' awards.

The University of Warwick's provost Chris Ennew said: "We have a responsibility as a community and organisation to moderate our individual actions, our research and teaching, and how we run and develop our University.

"We aim to reach net zero carbon from our direct emissions and the energy we buy by 2030, something that will need the continued commitment of government and partners, in addition to the University looking inwardly at our own policies, processes and behaviours."
