Warwickshire Police had closed part of both carriageways on the A46 by the Thickthorn junction earlier this afternoon to deal with a 'welfare incident.'

Emergency crews attended to a woman with 'potentially serious injuries' at the scene and she has been transported to hospital for further treatment.

Warwickshire Police and West Midlands Ambulance Service have dealt with the incident and both carriageways have now reopened.

A spokesperson from WMAS said: "We were called at 1:11pm to an incident at the junction of the A452 and A46. We sent two ambulances and a paramedic officer to the scene.

"When crews arrived, they found one patient, a woman, with potentially serious injuries.

"She was treated on scene before being conveyed to University Hospital Coventry and Warwickshire for further treatment."
