Warwickshire Police have closed part of a carriageway on the A46 as emergency services deal with an incident near the Thickthorn Island.

Police have responded to a 'welfare incident.'

A police statement on Twitter said: "The A46 carriageway at Thickthorn Island near Kenilworth is currently closed both ways as we respond to a concern for welfare incident with emergency services.

"Please avoid the area if possible."

The Tweet was posted at 1.35pm but no confirmation as to whether the carriageway has opened again has been received.

An air ambulance was spotted at the scene by a driver stuck in traffic at the scene.
