Police have arrested two suspected shoplifters after an incident in the centre of Kenilworth.

Kenilworth and Warwick Rural Police said the two were in custody within half an hour of a report that £200 worth of items had been stolen from an unnamed shop on Warwick Road on Monday (March 23) night.

"Officers were quickly on the scene to carry out a search of the area with the help of the CCTV team," a force statement said.

A woman was arrested a short time later in Station Road followed by the arrest of a man in Bridge Street.

Both the suspects from Coventry are still in custody.
