Time is running out for residents to have their say on possible changes to free bus passes for elderly people in Warwickshire.

The county council announced its first revue into the passes since 2017 earlier this month, with a public consultation running until September 11.

Warwickshire County Council currently subsidises a 9am start time for bus passes for eligible older people and disabled people. 

This is in addition to the basic national entitlement, which gives free off-peak bus travel between 9.30am until 11pm on weekdays and all day at weekends and on public holidays.  

But WCC is now asking for feedback on how residents actually use their passes to see whether changes are needed.

Following the last review five years ago councillors decided to make no changes to the scheme.

Cllr Wallace Redford, portfolio holder for transport and planning, said: “This is a real opportunity for residents who are in receipt of a free bus pass to have their say on the scheme.

"We are very keen to find out how free bus travel is being used across Warwickshire to ensure that it continues to contribute to the support of our residents through excellent transport infrastructure."

The questionnaire is available for anyone to fill in online via a link at www.warwickshire.gov.uk/concessionarytravel or through the Ask Warwickshire website. 

The council has also sent out paper versions of the questionnaire.
