Three people identified after a woman had her purse stolen in Kenilworth's Sainsbury's on Saturday (January 14) have been arrested.

The offenders used the woman's bank card to steal money from her account and were arrested near George Elliot Hospital the next day.

They were spotted coming into Nuneaton on the A444, stopped and arrested on suspicion of theft.

Warwickshire Police's Operational Patrol Unit also seized the vehicle as the driver also had no insurance and no driving licence.

A force statement on Monday said: "On Saturday afternoon the occupants of this Renault Megane Estate were identified as being responsible for the theft of a purse from a ladies handbag whilst she was shopping in Sainsbury's Kenilworth.

"The offenders went on to use the ladies bank card to steal money from her bank account.

"Yesterday afternoon [Sunday 15] the vehicle returned to Warwickshire and headed into Nuneaton on the A444.

"PD Zena and her handler Intercepted the vehicle and we joined in support."
