Three mile queues on M42 due to broken down ’abnormal load’

Motorists are being warned of three miles of queues on the M42 around Solihull.

National Highways said two lanes are currently closed on the motorway northbound due to a broken down 'abnormal load'.

Central Motorway Police Group are at the scene to remove the vehicle.

"Two lanes (of four) are closed on the M42 northbound between J4 Shirley and J5 Solihull/Knowle due to a broken down abnormal load," an update at 3pm said.

"CMPG are at scene with a specialist recovery team en route.

"Delays of 45 minutes and approx. three miles of congestion on approach."
