Thousands of Kenilworth households hit with 'yet another' power cut
By James Smith 24th Feb 2026
Thousands of Kenilworth locals were once again left without electricity last night (February 23) following another power cut in the town.
Some 5,000 homes were without power for around an hour from 9pm.
National Grid said there was a fault in the area which was isolated quickly so power could be restored.
But locals have questioned why so many power cuts have hit the town in recent months.
One resident contacted Nub News to say it was the fifth 'unplanned cut' they had experienced since November.
"We previously lived in Belfast where there might be a power cut once every five years," they said.
"The UK average is apparently four per decade.
"I've lived in Kenilworth for just over three years, and there have been several, especially recently.
"Businesses in Kenilworth have been badly affected."
Last night's outage comes after a string of cuts in the town centre which left businesses without power on regular occasions around Christmas.
This was reportedly fixed by National Grid which had temporary traffic lights around Warwick Road to install new cabling across the town centre.
