The Talisman Theatre and Arts Centre invites audiences on a "magical journey to Neverland" with its "enchanting" new production of Wendy and Peter Pan, Ella Hickson's imaginative adaptation of the beloved classic by J. M. Barrie.

Brought to life by the talented members of the Talisman Youth Theatre and directed by Ellie Wellicome, this heartfelt retelling promises adventure, imagination and a touch of fairy dust.

Told through Wendy's eyes, this inventive version places her journey firmly at the heart of the story.

Audiences travel from the Darling nursery to the magical island of Neverland, encountering the mischievous Peter Pan, the spirited Lost Children, the fierce Tiger Lily and the dastardly Captain Hook along the way. Beneath the adventure lies a deeper narrative. When Peter tumbles through Wendy's window offering escape, the adventure begins — but whether Neverland can truly mend a broken family remains uncertain.

Presented by the accomplished Talisman Youth Theatre, the production features a large and vibrant cast of young performers aged 10 to 18, showcasing the dedication, passion and creativity of the next generation of theatre-makers.

Olivia Leaf takes centre stage as Wendy, alongside Hannah McDermott as Peter Pan, Matthew Jolliffe as Captain Hook and Alannah Harris as Tink, supported by many other talented young performers.

Together, the cast brings both excitement and emotional depth to the stage, exploring themes of bravery, loss and the bittersweet nature of growing up.

Ella Hickson is an acclaimed contemporary British playwright celebrated for bold, imaginative storytelling and emotionally resonant writing.

Her work, including Wendy and Peter Pan, explores identity, family dynamics and the complexities of human relationships, blending theatrical inventiveness with striking emotional depth to create stories that are both playful and profoundly moving.

As one chapter closes, another begins for the Talisman Youth Theatre. Following seven inspiring years under the leadership of Caroline McCluskey, the company welcomes its new

Youth Theatre Director, Ellie Wellicome, who makes her debut with this production. She brings a wealth of experience, creative vision and a passion for nurturing young talent.

With a strong belief in ensemble storytelling and in developing confident, skilled performers, she looks forward to guiding the Youth Theatre into its next exciting phase.

Reflecting upon the play selection, Ellie shares: "This play was a great fit for the Talisman Youth Theatre, brimming with energy, silliness and magic. What drew me particularly to this script though was its heart. Not only is Wendy and her journey the focus, but at the centre of the play is a story about grief, a family in turmoil, and a young girl who thinks it's her job to fix it."

The Talisman Youth Theatre embraces this new era with enthusiasm, continuing its commitment to high-quality productions, inclusive opportunities and inspiring the next generation of theatre-makers.

The production has been made possible through the dedication of a skilled creative team.

Amy Jolliffe's dynamic choreography as Assistant Director and Elysia Sully's movement coordination bring energy and vitality to the stage, while James Harris crafts compelling stage combat and designs an immersive set that transports audiences from the comfort of the Darling nursery to the wild and unpredictable world of Neverland.
