Residents will be able to see steam power in action on the mainline this weekend as 'The William Shakespeare' travels through Warwickshire once again.

The express will actually pass nearby four times as it makes the return journey from Birmingham Moor Street to Stratford-upon-Avon twice.

The train will depart from Birmingham for the first time at 10am on Sunday 7 April and pass through Henley-in-Arden on its journey south, reaching Stratford at 11.05am.

After pausing to be photographed, the express will make its way back to Birmingham via Claverdon in the early afternoon.

The excursion will then return to Stratford (again via Henley) in time to pick up passengers at 4.13pm.

It will then make its fourth and final trip through the county via Claverdon.

Promoted by Vintage Trains, fares for the special start at £30.

The excursion has previously been hauled by either 7029 Clun Castle and 5043 Earl of Mount Edgcumbe.

Exact timings are expected later in the week.
