Twelve members of staff from Warwick Maternity Unit will each be taking part in a charity sky dive later this month, all in aid of The Lily Mae Foundation.

On Friday September 18 the girls will travel to Hinton Airfield, Northants, and at around 12.30pm each take on the 13,000 foot drop from plane to ground.

The team is made up of six midwives and six support workers from the Warwick Maternity Unit.

They are: Helen Williams, Katy Walker, Becky McNeil, Ellie Brandist, Amy Storey, Jenni Marsh, Amanda Healey-Price, Jenna Daniell, Jane McCarthy, Brogan Murray, Seanne Quinn, and Zoe Milburn

Clearly, working at the Maternity Unit, The Lily Mae Foundation is very close to the hearts of all twelve of the girls.

The Lily Mae Foundation was registered as a charity in October 2012, and has since then aimed to provide support for parents and families in the West Midlands who have lost a baby as a result of Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage, or Medical Termination.

"The Lily Mae Foundation is determined to change public perception of Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage and Medical Termination.

"Despite its frequency, there is little public perception of the frequency of Stillbirth and Neonatal Death. There has also historically been a lack of funding for research into Stillbirth, Neonatal Death, Miscarriage and Medical Termination."

Speaking to Nub News ahead of the event, Becky McNeil said "We're all feeling nervous and excited, but we hope to do the Lily Mae foundation proud.

"They make these beautiful memory boxes that we use in the unit."

Memory boxes are now provided for a number of hospitals in the West Midlands, and are just one of the many ways that the Foundation seeks to help bereaved parents.

"They allow the parents to collect memories and precious items and store them. As a parent you want to protect your child; when you lose a child, you want and need to protect their memory."

Aside from this, the Foundation also provides support meetings for parents, raises awareness through their social media platforms, provides access to counselling services, as well as support packs for siblings.

The girls had originally set a target of raising £400 each through their respective Just Giving Pages. They have already raised a fantastic £4,847 at the time of writing.
