Temporary traffic lights will be put in place at St John's gyratory and the Thickthorn roundabout ahead of HS2's A46 closure this month - despite the traffic chaos caused when the road shut in February.

Kenilworth motorists were left queuing on the roads around St John's during the first of two weekend closures of the dual carriageway earlier this year, until the lights were removed.

They were not put in place for the second weekend closure, much to the relief of locals.

But with the A46 due to shut between 8pm on Friday 11 April until 6am Thursday 1 May 2025, HS2 has confirmed the traffic lights will return.

The road will be closed from the Stivichall Interchange (Coventry) to the Thickthorn Island (A452 for Leamington and Kenilworth) to allow the new HS2 bridge to be installed.

Temporary traffic lights will also be in place on the Blacklow roundabout near Leek Wootton.

Additional traffic management will also see Dalehouse Lane only open one-way - towards Kenilworth.

Traffic lights in the town centre will "only be used if necessary".

Other traffic management will be in place in Stoneleigh.

More details of the closure can be found here.
