By Emily Griffin 8th Sep 2026
Drivers are being warned of temporary road closures across Balsall Common next weekend as hundreds of runners take part in the annual Balsall Common Fun Run.
Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council (SMBC) has announced a series of restrictions on Sunday, September 13, from 11.30am to 2pm to allow the event to take place safely.
The closures, introduced under the Road Traffic Regulation Act, will affect a number of roads across the village, including:
- Asbury Road
- Kemps Green Road
- Balsall Street East
- Frog Lane
- Needlers End Lane
- Wilton Road
- Alder Lane
Sections of Balsall Street, Holly Lane, Station Road and Gypsy Lane will also be closed while runners complete the course.
The restrictions are being put in place for the Balsall Common Fun Run, organised by The Lily Mae Foundation.
The event will see participants of all ages and abilities take part in a range of races, including mini runs for children, a junior 5km race and adult 5km and 10km events.
Signed diversion routes will be in place, while emergency service access and pedestrian access to properties within the closure zone will be maintained throughout the event.
