The owner of a Kenilworth gallery and tea room has celebrated her first anniversary since taking over the business today (June 21).

Kate Greevy reopened the The Farthing Gallery and Tea Room last summer after giving the shop a full makeover.

Former teacher Kate closed the popular High Street shop for a few weeks last May in order to carry out the refurbishment, which included opening a brand new tea room.

Now one year on, the business has continued to grow and is today celebrating its first anniversary by offering free cake to customers - so long as they do a birthday dance in the store!

Taking to social media, Kate said: "Happy birthday to us!

"I took over The FG one year ago today! It wasn't quite a tearoom straight away but we got there after a few bumps in the road and now we are absolutely thriving with a lovely, loyal community base!

"We can't wait to see what the next year brings us!

"Don't forget to give us a birthday dance today to win a free cakes!"

Complete with an outdoor seating area, the café now sells light bites, freshly made cakes, and sandwiches.

Speaking to Nub News last summer, Kate also said she was eager to keep as much of the business as it was, while also adding her own stamp to it.

"It has got such a good reputation and [former owner] Helen Clues has built up such a good business and the community support for it was overwhelming, the people were very strong about it staying, so I thought changing the name would be a big mistake," she said.

"It is a well known shop now, people know where it is and what it's about.

"So I thought I'd keep the name but change the logo a bit to make it my own by just adding 'tea room' to the end."

Having completely replaced the flooring, electrics and added a new kitchen, the gallery reopened with the tea room at the front of the shop, with the gifts and artwork now being sold from a renovated and redecorated room at the back.

Kate has also since launched a second eatery, directly opposite on Station Road.

The Butcher's Bistro opened in the former Alexa Lauren Patisserie shop at the end of last year.
