Renovation complete at Waverley following National Lottery grant
Waverley has a very happy cook this month as the charity has just refurbished the main kitchen at the centre through the National Lottery Community Fund.
Sue, the catering manager has worked for the charity for nearly 30 years and uses fresh ingredients, when possible, to create a range of appetizing meals - so naturally Waverley wanted her to have the best workspace possible.
Using the Lottery community fund grant Waverley has worked alongside Warwickshire County Council and Arden Construction to make this happen.
Sue said: "I couldn't be more pleased with the outcome of the refitted kitchen.
"They have managed to retain the homely feel which Waverley is all about with a more up to date safe, semi-commercial kitchen."
The centre for older people in Kenilworth offers hot two-course lunches as part of its range of services which support the health and wellbeing of its members.
Up to 20 people per day sit down to enjoy food and friendship.
The centre is open Tuesdays through until Fridays and lunches cost £10
In addition, other local community groups who use Waverley on a regular basis to meet up can now benefit from the enhanced kitchen space. Room hire of this space starts from £35.
Mayor of Kenilworth, Cllr Alan Chalmers, attended the kitchen reopening last week.
Members and guests were treated to tea with Sue's delicious home-made scones.
Waverley is the mayor's charity of the year. Cllr Chalmers said how pleased he was to be able to support Waverley and stressed the importance of sharing good food with others.
The mayor has already accepted an invitation for Christmas lunch.
"A big thank you to all those who have supported this project," Waverley added.
Waverley sponsors Kenilworth Nub News.
Without community-minded partners like them, we would not be able to provide clickbait-free news for the people of Kenilworth.
