A new community bench inspired by classic children's books has been unveiled in Kenilworth.

The bench was created by members of the youth group at the Kenilworth Centre as part of the Beautiful Benches Project a collaboration between Kenilworth Arts Festival and Kenilworth Books.

The bench was unveiled as part of the Bookshop Day celebrations on Saturday (October 13), which also saw a signing with local author Rick Thompson, and free goodie bags!

The fantastic new bench includes references to classic works including The Hobbit, Paddington, The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Peter Pan.

And it also features the quote "you can't blend in when you were born to stand out" from Wonder by R.J Palacio.

The unveiling is the latest in a series of decorated benches which have been installed in Kenilworth over the past few years.

Other decorated benches can also be seen in the closed section of Station Road.

"What a wonderful job the youth group have done on the new bench," Judy Brook, owner of Kenilworth Books said.

"We absolute love the new bench, and it was great to unveil it at Saturday's Bookshop Day event.

"We are sure the Kenilworth community will like it as much as we do!"

The bench can be seen at Kenilworth Books in Talisman Square.
