A local author is set to showcase her new novel at a special signing event in Kenilworth this weekend.

Rachael Wong described her new book The Book Chain as a "real Warwickshire and Kenilworth collaboration".

On Saturday 12 September, Rachael will be at Kenilworth Books in Talisman Square, meeting readers and signing copies of the book.

The story of The Book Chain is partly set in Warwickshire in 2025 when a group of local women decide to unravel a mystery going back to the library in Ljubljana in 1941.

It is a story of friendship, loss, love and rediscovery which features lots of familiar Warwickshire and Birmingham landmarks.

Rachael will be at Kenilworth Books from 10.30am until 1.30pm on Saturday, "celebrating the Warwickshire connection" and even giving away freshly made 'Warwickshire Bear' biscuits.

In addition to her novel, she will also be bringing a stock of her children's Warwickshire cricket books, written around the legend of the Bear and the Ragged Staff.

Some copies (first come first served) will be signed by England and Warwickshire cricketer Issy Wong.

Explaining more about the local connection, Rachael told Nub News: "I am a local author and by complete chance, when presented with a choice of designers from all over the world on the Reedsy website, the designer with the best fit to my book was based in Kenilworth!

"Elisabeth Heissler lives in Kenilworth and designed both the front cover of The Book Chain and the interior typesetting of the text.

"She has done an amazing job.

"We worked together online and then met - at Kenilworth Books, where else! - to celebrate our collaboration when the book was published.

"To complete the Kenilworth circle, the staff at Kenilworth Books have been supportive of this local collaboration and have stocked The Book Chain, to the delight of local book clubs who have chosen the book as their read this summer."
