Kenilworth's 'spookiest and scariest stories' to be unveiled at book launch

Locals will soon be able to give themselves a self-guided tour of Kenilworth featuring some of the town's spookiest and scariest stories.
New book 'Haunted Kenilworth' will be officially launched with a special event hosted by Kenilworth Books at the end of March, giving guests an insight into the dark deeds the book uncovers.
Having received a hugely positive response to his 2023 work 'Bloody Kenilworth', local historian Adam Wood's follow-up volume will feature some of the most notorious local locations.
Including more than 20 tales from the town, the book's stories include a witch in the castle moat and even a ghost in the music shop.
"Every town, village and city in the country has its own fair share of the unexplained, and things that go bump in the night," Adam said.
"A town as old as Kenilworth is obviously going to have a lot of dark history.
"I've been delighted with the response to my walking guide volume Bloody Kenilworth, which detailed some of the bad things which happened to the townspeople during life; now, I'm going to reveal what happened to them afterwards.
"I've been digging in archives, old newspapers dating back to the early 1800s, and reading accounts of hauntings in books published over the past century and a half."

To celebrate the new release, a special talk and walking tour will be held at Abbey Hill United Reform Church on Monday 31 March from 7pm.
While spaces for the walk are now sold out, locals can still attend the talk for just £5.
The evening will conclude with a book signing by Adam.
Kenilworth Books owner Judy Brook said: "This is set to be a fantastic event, and one not to be missed!

"At Kenilworth Books we love celebrating the work of local authors, as well as helping launch new books, so we are really excited for Adam's talk.
"So come on down on March 31 to learn all about Kenilworth's darker side!"
