Town councillors have welcomed the "impressive" array of new stalls which are making the most of reduced rates at Kenilworth Market.

Last week's Thursday market saw the addition of a number of new businesses following a new initiative backed by Kenilworth Town Council, CJ's Events Warwickshire and Warwick District Council.

The scheme - which comes as part of a wider town council plan to boost business - has seen a six-week reduction in rates to encourage new businesses to take up a stall.

"I was really impressed today that there were five new stalls there that were taking advantage of some reduced rates for a six week trial period," Cllr Kate Dickson said at last week's council meeting.

"There were some really interesting stalls there."

The initiative offers new traders the chance to participate in six markets for just £99, aiming to help them grow their businesses while boosting footfall at Kenilworth Market.

The new ventures welcomed to the market include: Smith's Salsa, Tinymenbigballs,  CL&RE Wellness, Mind Zen Wellbeing, Hillside Yarn and Inspired Crafts.

Cllr Andrew Milton added: "It's been really good that CJ have worked to get additional people involved - it is great."
