Step behind the scenes at Kenilworth theatre with 'Wardrobe Wednesdays'
By James Smith 19th Oct 2026
Kenilworth's Talisman Theatre is inviting local people to discover the creativity behind its stage costumes at the launch of Wardrobe Wednesdays on Wednesday 21 October.
Starting at 7.30pm in the theatre foyer on Barrow Road, the informal evening offers a chance to meet members of the Wardrobe Team over hot drinks and biscuits, find out about upcoming productions and explore how to get involved.
The new weekly sessions aim to welcome more volunteers to the team that helps bring the theatre's characters to life — and being able to sew is certainly not a requirement.
From finding the perfect coat to choosing accessories and putting together complete outfits, wardrobe involves much more than making costumes.
The Talisman has an extensive collection of clothing and accessories, offering plenty of opportunities for people with an eye for an outfit, an interest in theatre or a willingness to lend a hand.
Volunteers help directors and actors develop the look of each character, making costume an essential part of the storytelling audiences enjoy on stage.

Whether you are an experienced dressmaker, enjoy browsing charity shops for unusual finds or simply want to try something creative and meet new people, Wardrobe Wednesdays offers a friendly introduction to life behind the scenes.
There is no need to have volunteered at a theatre before. The launch is an opportunity to ask questions, hear about the different tasks involved and discover where your interests might fit.
Wardrobe Wednesdays begins on Wednesday 21 October 2026, with sessions taking place every Wednesday from 7.30pm onwards in the Talisman Theatre foyer, Barrow Road, Kenilworth.
There is no need to register in advance — just turn up for a hot drink, a biscuit and a chat. Anyone with questions before coming along can email the Wardrobe Team at [email protected].
