Kenilworth residents are invited to get into the swing of things this half term, as a local primary school launches its annual scarecrow trail.

Running from Friday 16 October to Sunday 1 November, the Musicals Scarecrow Trail from Priors Field Primary School promises a fun-filled outdoor adventure for families, with plenty of familiar faces to spot along the way.

From the yellow brick road to a practically perfect nanny, visitors who purchase a trail map can expect a star-studded line-up of musical icons from the stage and screen.

A cast of 22 scarecrows take centre stage along a circular route through the residential streets of north west Kenilworth, which borders open countryside and the charming cafes and pubs of historic old town.

With fan favourites Matilda, Mary Poppins and Paddington making an appearance alongside timeless classics and some spooktacular surprises, organisers say there is something for everyone.

Visitors who complete the trail can vote for their favourite scarecrow by 4 November, and are even in with a chance of winning a prize draw.

Priors Field Primary headteacher Katy Braley said: "Thanks to the creativity and craftsmanship of our wonderful children and their families, we once again have an exciting scarecrow hunt to share with local residents.

"We hope everyone enjoys the trail, which we think offers the perfect mix of fun and fresh air."

The chair of Priors Field Primary School PTA, Vicky Chambers, commented: "Our wonderful school community has pulled out all the stops to bring the West End to Kenilworth.

"We're looking forward to welcoming everyone and hope to make this year's trail another hit for our school."

Trail maps are £3 and available from the Priors Field PTA website, or in hard copy from outside Priors Field Primary School on Clinton Lane.
