Kenilworth Lions present donation to support student mental health
By James Smith 18th Jun 2026
Hayden Abbott, CEO of Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust, was "delighted to receive" a cheque donation from the Kenilworth Lions on Saturday 13 June 2026, following a successful year of fundraising in support of student mental health and wellbeing.
The donation forms part of the Kenilworth Lions President's Charity initiative led by Lions President Bill Wanley, who chose to partner with Kenilworth School and Sixth Form.
Funds were raised through a variety of community events, including Music for Minds concert held at Kenilworth School in March The event brought together local performers, including the Bad Vibrations Community Choir, the U3A Big Band, Kenilworth School musicians led by Miss Weiner, and student dancers led by Mrs Wardleworth.
The donation will support the work of the school's Inclusion Team, enabling them to continue working with specialist organisations focused on mental health and wellbeing.
The funding will help provide additional support for young people facing a range of challenges, including bereavement, fostering and adoption-related experiences. It will also contribute towards furnishing the school's Reflection Room, creating a dedicated space where vulnerable and SEND students can regulate their emotions, access support and feel safe during the school day.
Hayden Abbott, CEO of Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust, said: "I would like to express our sincere thanks to the Kenilworth Lions for their incredibly generous donation of £14,114.17.
"We are immensely grateful for their longstanding support of the school and the wider community.
"Kenilworth Multi Academy Trust and Kenilworth School & Sixth Form would like to extend its sincere thanks to the Kenilworth Lions, President Bill Wanley, Miss Weiner and Mrs Wardleworth of Kenilworth School & the performers who took part in Music for Minds, and everyone who contributed to this important cause."
Luke Ovenden of Kenilworth School said: "The Reflection Room and the work of our Inclusion Team play a vital role in helping students overcome challenges and achieve their full potential, and this funding will have a lasting impact on the lives of many students for years to come. "
Mr Mummery, Head of School added: "I would like to express my sincere thanks to the Kenilworth Lions for their continued support of our school and the fantastic work they do within the local community.
"This generous donation will enhance the strong wellbeing provision we already have in place, enabling us to provide even greater support for students who need it most."
