1. VJ Day

Friday (August 15) marks the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.

Kenilworth is set to host a short remembrance service at the war memorial in Abbey Fields.

Hosted by Kenilworth Town Council and the Royal British Legion, the event will start at 11am.

2. Warwickshire Pride

Warwickshire Pride Festival returns this Saturday (16 August), "bigger and better", according to the charity's chair.

The festival will take place in nearby Leamington Spa on Saturday, at 11am, with a Pride March through the town, followed by the main celebration at the Pump Room Gardens, until 6pm.

Attendees can look forward to around 120 stalls, a wide variety of food and drink vendors, live performances, and even a dog show.

Chair and founder of Warwickshire Pride, Daniel Browne, told Nub News: "We've got lots going on this year.

"I think it's a really good event, first and foremost, being a protest and highlighting why we have Pride.

"Warwickshire Pride is rooted in the origins of the Pride movement.

"Yes, it is a celebration – come and enjoy yourself – but let's also remember why we're here and why we're doing this."

3. Repair Cafe

It is the third Saturday of the month this weekend so it's Repair Cafe and the chance to get your broken items fixed.

"Remember if you can carry it in or pedal it, we'll have a look at it," organisers said.

"Our brilliant volunteers with skills in DIY repairs, electrical and electronics, toys, bicycles, simple sewing and jewellery, will be available to help you to fix your clean, portable items.

"We can't promise to mend everything but at least together we can have a good go to keep stuff out of landfill.

"We can also offer small garden tool sharpening although this will be limited to two items per person this month!"

More details here.
