Everyone Active in partnership with Warwick District Council will be hosting a community open weekend (11 and 12 July) packed with free water related activities to celebrate the opening of the new Abbey Fields Swimming Pool.

The multi-million-pound redeveloped facility will open its doors to the public at 7.30am on Saturday 11 July with two days of free sessions which will include inflatables, family swims, lane swimming and Hydrohex, a new virtual aqua group exercise classes in both the training and family pools.

Throughout the weekend there will be chance for visitors to sample a range of refreshments in the conservatory style café, while families and little ones will also be able to experience facepainting sessions and balloon artists.

The new centre will be open from 7am to 9pm Monday to Friday, and 7am to 5pm at weekends and offer a wide variety of water-based sessions as well as Everyone Active's award-winning learn to swim programme.

In addition, there will be enhanced provision for the disabled to access the water using the latest 'pool-pod' lift and water level changing technology.

Portfolio holder for safer, healthier and active communities, Cllr Jim Sinnott commented: "This is an exciting day for Kenilworth and the wider district, and I very much hope that local people will come along to enjoy everything that this beautiful new swimming facility has on offer.

"We look forward to welcoming everyone for a fun packed weekend."
