Kenilworth's recycling centre will close temporarily this afternoon (June 24) due to the hot weather.

Warwickshire County Council confirmed Cherry Orchard will shut from 1pm to 3pm alongside five other centres.

A red weather warning is in place on Wednesday and Thursday this week.

"This decision has been made to protect the health, safety and wellbeing of both visitors and staff," a council statement said.

Cherry Orchard will reopen at 3pm and remain open until the usual summer closing time of 6.15pm.

The same times will run at:

  • Lower House Farm, North Warwickshire
  • Hunters Lane, Rugby
  • Judkins, Nuneaton
  • Cherry Orchard, Kenilworth
  • Princes Drive, Leamington
  • Burton Farm, Stratford

Shipston Recycling Centre will close at 1pm on Wednesday and stay closed for the rest of the day (it usually closes at 3:15pm on a Wednesday).

On Thursday 25 June, all Recycling Centres will close at 1pm and stay closed for the rest of the day.

"We appreciate that this may cause inconvenience and thank residents for their understanding," the council said.

"We expect sites to return to their normal opening hours from Friday 26 June, however, please check your local recycling centre webpage for the latest information before travelling."
