Kenilworth Tennis, Squash & Croquet Club has enjoyed a packed summer of competition, fundraising and sporting achievement, with teams and individuals making their mark across a range of sports.

From a place in the national padel finals and a top-of-the-table squash campaign to a £1,762.90 charity fundraiser and a remarkable national racketball result, there has been plenty to celebrate at the local club.

And with league campaigns reaching their decisive stages and club championships on the horizon, there is still plenty more to come.

Tennis teams battling at the top

Kenilworth's tennis teams have been competing through a challenging spell of high temperatures, but there have been plenty of encouraging performances.

The men's first team is currently an impressive fourth in the Premier Division, while the second team is battling in a tough Division Two.

The third team sits sixth in Division Four, while the fourth team is fifth in Division Seven as they look to secure their positions.

The ladies have also been putting in strong performances.

The first team is sixth in the Premier Division, while the second team is enjoying an excellent fourth place in Division 1 after being promoted last season.

The third team, also promoted last season, is battling hard in Division One, while the fourth team is sitting an impressive third in Division Four and pushing for promotion for the second year running.

The fifth team is currently fifth in Division Seven.

There has also been a strong start for the mixed senior team, which is fourth in the South Division in its first season and just five points from second place, with three matches still to play.

Young players making their mark

The club's junior section has remained busy throughout the summer, with youngsters taking part in competitive matches despite the heat.

The popular tennis camps are also underway, with strong attendance once again.

The camps run every weekday of the school holidays from 10am to 3pm, excluding bank holidays.

There are also plenty of junior events to look forward to, including Junior Night on Friday 11 September and the Junior Club Championships on Saturday 26 September.

Squash team leads the way

There is plenty of excitement in the squash section as the summer league reaches its final stages.

The second team has enjoyed a particularly impressive campaign and currently sits top of Division Four, with eight wins from 10 matches and an eight-point advantage over Cleaver Two.

The third team is third in Division Six after five wins from eight matches, while the first team is fifth in Division Two.

With all three teams still having important fixtures remaining, the final matches could make for an exciting finish.

Supporters are welcome at home matches, which start at 7.30pm and are free to watch.

Sarah-Jane Perry honoured by the club

One of the standout moments of the summer was a special evening celebrating Kenilworth's own Sarah-Jane Perry OBE.

More than 40 members, friends and family attended to hear about her extraordinary journey from promising junior to World Number Five, as well as her continued contribution to squash.

Sarah-Jane spoke candidly about her career, including the highs and lows of competing at the highest level, her motivation and the challenges she faced along the way.

She also brought a selection of trophies and medals to the event, while guests heard personal tributes from former coach Steve Townsend and Head Coach and close friend Jenny McKenna.

As a lasting tribute, the club presented Sarah-Jane with a plaque commemorating the naming of its show court as the 'SJP Show Court'.

Two coaches achieve major qualification

There was further recognition for the squash section when Jenny McKenna and Sarah-Jane Perry successfully completed the England Squash Talent Development Award.

The seven-month programme included online learning, webinars and intensive practical training before the pair successfully passed their final assessment.

They now join Dawn Ashford, Guy Pearson and Steve Townsend as qualified Talent Development coaches at the club, strengthening the coaching team and supporting players at every stage of their development.

National runner-up after returning from surgery

Another remarkable sporting achievement came from racketball player Graham Greensall.

Following knee surgery in September 2025, Graham worked hard to return to the UK Racketball Tour.

His comeback culminated in a runner-up finish in the Over-75s category at the National Championships, following a series of hard-fought matches.

It is an impressive achievement — and one that demonstrates that competitive sport can continue at the highest level at any age.

Padel players raise £1,762 for Myton Hospice

The club's padel section has also enjoyed a memorable summer, particularly through its inaugural charity padel-a-thon.

More than 100 players took part in the event, with the courts almost full from 6am until 10pm.

Together, they raised a fantastic £1,762.90 for Myton Hospice.

The organisers thanked everyone who took part, donated and helped make the day a success, with a special mention for those who provided cakes for the fundraising effort.

Padel team heading to national finals

There has been plenty of success on the competitive padel courts too.

The ladies' first team has enjoyed an excellent second half of the season, recording three further 4–0 victories against Priory, Solihull Arden and Market Harborough.

The results mean the team has secured a place in the national finals in October.

The men's second team is also firmly in contention after a 2–2 draw against Four Oaks and a 3–1 victory over Market Harborough, leaving the remaining fixtures crucial in the battle for the league title.

Croquet brings the club's sports together

Away from the league action, the croquet section has continued to provide another opportunity for members to try something different.

An annual inter-sport competition brought together players from tennis, squash and padel for a competitive but fun afternoon of croquet, with the squash players emerging as winners.

The croquet section has also welcomed young people from the squash camp for introductory sessions, while friendly matches against other local clubs have continued throughout the summer.

More action to come

With league campaigns approaching their conclusions and club competitions continuing, there is no shortage of activity at Kenilworth Tennis, Squash & Croquet Club.

Upcoming highlights include the Padel Club Championships on Saturday 12 September, the Junior Night and Junior Club Championships, as well as further tennis, squash, croquet and social events.
