A local alpaca farm is hoping to raise £5,000 to repair the damage left behind by Storm Darragh this weekend.

Andrea Stevens-Moors of Middle England Farm Alpacas has set up the GoFundMe page to help pay for repairs to shelters, fencing and gates around the site.

The Henley-in-Arden farm has also been without electricity since Saturday (December 7).

"It's hard to believe that once more we have to fundraise for our beautiful animals," the fundraiser said.

"Storm Darragh ripped through our farm on Saturday, trashing our animal shelters, gates and fence posts and bringing down the electricity.

"To repair our shelters and fencing we need to fundraise desperately!

"Once we have electricity we can fix the shelters ourselves but we need to buy wood, roof panels and fixings, as well as hiring machinery. None of which we can afford at the slowest time of the year in a cost of living crisis."

Andrea said many of the animals - which include goats, sheep, llamas and pigs as well as alpacas - are rescues and need their shelters repaired as the wet and cold weather continues.

The family-run business is totally reliant on the income it generates through the farm.

"We are totally family run and rely 100% on income generated from the farm," the fundraiser continued.

"We run a care farm for young people with additional needs, providing much needed outdoor animal therapy.

"We're also a volunteer base for many people who are unable to work due to mental health or additional needs. We also offer student work placements to train youngsters who wish to work with rescue animals.

"Our reach is wide and our animals are central to all we do and care for.

"We know money is tight for everyone but if anyone can help, in anyway, we would be so very grateful."
