'Significant rise in road closures' expected around Kenilworth in 2025
A "significant rise in road closures" is expected in 2025 due to local HS2 works.
A report to Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) this week said Balfour Beatty Vinci (BBV), the HS2 contractor for the Kenilworth area, is due to "intensify" construction in the local area in the coming months.
The report said this will lead to "increased disruption in Kenilworth and surrounding areas".
"Kenilworth will experience a significant rise in road closures during 2025/2026, affecting the following key routes: Ashow Road, A46, Dalehouse Lane, A429 (Coventry Road) [and] Crackley Lane," it added.
The report comes in the same week that Dalehouse Lane has been shut for HS2 works and Warwickshire County Council (WCC) was forced to push back its works on Crewe Lane to prevent further traffic problems in the town.
HS2 has already announced two weekend closures of the A46 in February - but the dates of the much-anticipated three-week closure of the dual carriageway are yet to be confirmed.
The report says it could be in May.
Dalehouse Lane is expected to close for 14 months towards the end of the year.
The report continued: "WCC highways department acknowledged that local traffic use local roads during closures.
"However, measures will be taken to deter regional and national through traffic from using local routes, minimising unnecessary disruption."
