Staff at local venue the Rialto Plaza in Coventry have recounted the 'lovely guy' Sean Lock who headlined the venue's first Live at the Rialto comedy show in 2019.

Lock's agent confirmed yesterday that the popular standup and team captain on 8 Out of 10 Cats, has died aged 58 after a long battle with cancer.

The first Live at The Rialto gig, in June 2019, was headlined by Lock who made an impact not just with his audience but with staff at the venue.

A Rialto Plaza staff member told our sister site Bedworth Nub News that Lock was exactly as he appeared on stage.

"Sean was, as expected, very laid back and what you saw on the TV is exactly what you got off screen," they said.

"Prior to his performance at the Rialto, he mingled with all comedians, posed for pictures with staff members and was generally a lovely guy.

"His comedy is dry and I think it worked incredibly well for him.

"Sean headlined our first Live at the Rialto show, and we couldn't have picked a better act to do so. He will be sadly missed in the comedy world, and there is now a void that may not ever be filled.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with his family at this time."
