Residents have today reported that rat poison has been found at Bates Memorial Play Area in Kenilworth

The poison, whilst targeted at rats, can also be fatal to dogs. Local dog-walkers have warned other residents not to visit the park via online social media groups today.

A local student veterinary nurse Chloe Thomas has warned, "this morning alone we've had multiple phone calls from dog owners who have seen lots of rat poison and some dogs unfortunately ingesting it."

"If you have seen your dog eat it then bring them to the vets immediately, if you're not sure if your dog has eaten any you are looking for symptoms such as lethargy, pale gums, nose bleeds, blood in urine, tremors."

Warwickshire police have been notified.

Other residents have also put up warning signs in the park, stressing to fellow dog owners not to use the space.
