'Record' numbers hit Warwick Hospital A&E
By James Smith 14th Apr 2026
Over 9,000 people attended Warwick Hospital's A&E department in March in a record month for the site.
South Warwickshire University NHS Foundation Trust said 9,084 people visited the emergency room in the highest March attendance figures on record.
The trust said this was a "significant" increase on last year and had place "immense pressure" on services.
At the start of March the trust said Warwick's A&E was under "high pressure", with locals urged to only attend if necassary.
Earlier this year the trust was also forced to announce a "critical incident" at the hospital due to the huge number of people attending A&E.
"In March, 9,084 people came through the doors of our Emergency Department - a significant increase compared to last year, placing immense pressure on our services," the trust said.
"We often see a spike in attendances after the weekend, especially after the end of a Half Term, as many people delay seeking help.
"This can lead to longer waiting times for everyone.
"Please do not put off getting the care you need. If it's an emergency or life-threatening situation, seek treatment immediately."
