Three potential options have been identified for a new pedestrian crossing which could provide safer access to Kenilworth Castle.

Kenilworth Town Council (KTC) has also signed off on a £25,000 budget for a feasibility study as it looks to make it safer for locals to walk to the town's main tourist attraction.

Councillors announced earlier this year they were looking to find a location for a new crossing given the idea was included in the 2018 neighbourhood plan, but has yet to be taken up.

And providing an update at the most recent KTC meeting, Cllr Zoe Leventhal said: "I am really pleased that the town council has picked up this issue and is pressing forward with English Heritage to try and resolve the problem that there is no safe pedestrian crossing to get to the castle.

"We have made good progress."

The three options include a spot next to Castle Green, just past the junction with Castle Hill and near the car park entrance further along Castle Road.

KTC has a meeting with English Heritage to discuss next steps.

The £25,000 spend - which was unanimously backed at the last council meeting - will come from CIL money - funding from housing developers which is to be spent on local infrastructure projects.

Cllr Richard Dickson praised the work of councillors ahead of what could be "one of the biggest investments in infrastructure" the council has made.
