Armed response officers were called to Warwick Arts Centre during a show on Saturday to deal with a weapons threat.

West Midlands Police was called to the Butterworth Hall at around 9.10pm on October 10 following reports of two people carrying weapons inside the theatre.

Officers searched the two and found they were carrying wooden replica weapons.

"On attendance, officers stopped and searched the individuals, who helped with our enquiries, and we confirmed the pair were carrying wooden replica weapons which posed no threat to the public," a force statement said.

"As an additional precaution, officers remained in the area until the show had finished.

"We encourage people to continue to call 999 if they see similar suspicious behaviour."

The incident happened during a Reece Shearsmith performance.
