Plans to create residential children’s care home in Kenilworth put forward

Plans to create a full-time residential children's care home in Kenilworth have been put forward to Warwick District Council (WDC).
Action for Children has asked for permission to alter the existing use of a facility on Rouncil Lane which is currently only allowed to be used for respite care.
If approved, the scheme will see the property "occupied as a full-time residential children's care home" which would allow "for longer term residents in the property".
The scheme proposes no changes to the external appearance of the building.
"The proposed use will reduce traffic to the site and result in a more settled environment because of the long-term nature of the care," the application said.
"Action for Children see the future potential of the building being used as a residential home for children with disabilities.
"The alteration…would allow for the provision of long term residents at the property."
The building currently has four bedrooms for children and a staff room.
Action for Children says it will employ a mixture of full time and part time staff to run the facility.
The application continued: "Action for Children's approach to delivering a high standard of care for vulnerable children is based on the recognition that each child/young person is an individual with unique experiences and needs.
"The personalised care plans, based upon an individual needs and, are responsive to this and aim to provide growth and development in health, education, personal identity, family/social relationships, social presentation, emotional and behavioural development, promoting independence and helping children/young people reach their full potential.
"Action for Children will be supporting children to continue to attend their local school and wish to fully integrate the children and staff into the local community and take advantage of the activities available locally."
