Council planners have given the green light for a dog grooming business to start operating from a Kenilworth home.

Warwick District Council has granted planning permission for an existing utility room at a property on Sunningdale Avenue to be used as a dog groomers.

Plans show the space will still also function as a utility room.

In the application - which received no objections - a wide range of "noise management" plans were detailed.

This includes the use of boundary screens to block noise, using rubber mats under equipment to reduce vibration and leaving a gap between clients so there is no "crossover barking".

While the business said it would operate between 8am and 6pm on weekdays and from 10am to 4pm on weekends, it said it will start operating on Thursdays and Fridays initially.

From the second year it plans to accommodate four to five dogs per day, five days per week.

Signing off on the application, a council report said: "The environmental health officer has been consulted on the proposed development and has reviewed the submitted noise management plan.

"It is considered that the proposed measures for noise mitigation and management are reasonable and proportionate for the development proposed and no objection is raised subject to conditions requiring that the operation of the business adheres to the methods set out in the noise management plan."

Council planners also said extra vehicles in the area would not be a problem with on street parking, even though the applicant said customers would be encouraged to park on the drive.
