Plans for cyclepath on busy Kenilworth road revealed

Plans for a new shared cycleway and footpath along a busy Kenilworth road have been revealed by Warwickshire County Council (WCC).
Locals have until June 9 to have their say on the plans for Glasshouse Lane.
A notice on the council's website shows the new cycleway would connect to the shared cycle / footpath at Kenilworth School, and travel to Oakley Road - the entrance to the new housing estate.
Here the cycle path would cross the road and continue along Glasshouse Lane on the other side of the road.
The project comes as part of the roadworks around the new housing estate, which will also eventually see a new roundabout built at the junction with Stansfield Grove. Works on his new junction have been continually pushed back.

"As part of a Section 278 Agreement, highway works associated with the building of new developments on land adjacent to Glasshouse Lane, Kenilworth, will be carried out to realign part of the carriageway with a new island introduced at the main access and will include the construction of a shared footway / cycle track," a notice on the WCC website said.
It continued: "The shared footway/cycle track will support the use of active travel methods from a wider area to Kenilworth School as well as connecting the new building developments to the footway/cycle network ensuring access to safer walking routes for members of the public."
The local authority has already held a public consultation on the cyclepath further along Glasshouse Lane.
