Plans for 5G mast refused

Plans to install a 5G mast in Balsall Common have been thrown out by council planners.
Communications firm Cornerstone had applied for permission for the 17.5 metre-high mast on Kenilworth Road, but Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council has blocked the scheme.
Plans show the monopole would have had six antennas and two transmission dishes.
However, officers at the local authority said the structure was not in keeping with the local area.
"The proposed mast and associated equipment cabinets would, due to their size, height, amount, appearance and siting, be harmful to the visual amenities and local distinctiveness of the area and given that there are potentially more suitable alternative sites capable of accommodating the required mast that have not been satisfactorily discounted, there are no accepted material considerations that outweigh the identified harm," the application said.
"Insufficient, inaccurate and incomplete technical information has been submitted which
cannot be relied upon to provide the high-quality evidence required by the NPPF and code of practice."
