A new 'Park and Stride' scheme has been launched in Kenilworth to help ease parking problems around two local primary schools.

Launched by Warwick District Council (WDC) the scheme will allow parents to park at Castle Farm car park at pick up and drop off times.

Parents and pupils can then walk from there to the nearby Clinton Primary and St John's Primary Schools.

Sharing the news, Kenilworth Town Council said: "This will ease the burden on nearby residential roads at drop off and pick up times, and also encourage a healthier lifestyle for both children and parents alike."

Castle Farm car park has recently come under fire after residents in the neighbouring streets complained of motorists parking "dangerously" on the pavements and verges when the car park gets full.

The issue is particularly problematic at the weekends.

Councillors and campaigners had warned WDC there was insufficient parking at the new leisure centre when planning permission was granted.
