The A46 will close on multiple nights in August for the final HS2 works on the new bridge.

The dual carriageway was closed near Stoneleigh for three weeks earlier this year as the carriageway was removed, the new bridge moved into place and the road rebuilt over it.

Since then the A46 has been reduced to two lanes around the junction.

The upcoming closures will see the "final vehicle safety system and central reservation" finished and all three lanes reopened.

The road will be closed from the Stivichall Interchange (Festival Island) to the Thickthorn Island (A452 for Leamington and Kenilworth) overnight on the evenings of:

  • 8pm to 6am Saturday 2 and on Sunday 3 August
  • 8pm to 6am Saturday 16 and on Sunday 17 August

"While we deliver the works there will be increased construction activity overnight and some additional noise," an HS2 statement said.

"We will minimise the impact on residents as much as possible. Once complete all lanes of the A46 will be open.

"To ensure the safety of our workforce, we will be closing a section of the A46 from

"We will hold a date in late September, as a contingency in the event of a delay to the planned work."
