Coventry Rocks, the website made especially for families to find things to do in Coventry and the local area has just celebrated its first birthday.

Usually full-to-the-brim with local events and attractions, the website has had to adapt during 2020 to feature more Online Activities, Outdoor Spaces, and Supporting Local Businesses.

Coventry Rocks is owned by local mum of two, Jess McLish, whose motivation to start up a family guide to Coventry was born out of her own experiences as a mother "When I became a mum, I found it difficult to find groups and places to go with my daughter.

"There are so many brilliant places to explore in Coventry, and groups to be part of, but I would spend hours trawling the internet trying to find something suitable. What I needed was a 'one stop shop' for everything in the area!"

Coventry Rocks was launched in December 2019 and has been an instant success.

Over 72,000 families have visited the website during its first year and there are over 5000 followers across Facebook, Instagram and Twitter seeing the 500 events, activities and groups which the site has advertised.

"It's fair to say our first year of business has been a rollercoaster! Despite events and attractions being closed, I have worked extremely hard to ensure the website remained a useful tool for local families, regardless of whether they were staying in or going out."

Jess has recently written an article about shopping local this Christmas, featuring over 20 local businesses selling unique gift ideas. The article has already been viewed by hundreds of local people, and has been brilliant for raising awareness of local businesses.

Coventry Rocks also features community groups and events, and Jess is keen to collaborate even more with local communities and charities in 2021.

Finding Hidden Gems

The Coventry Rocks website features over 50 local outdoor spaces, including parks, nature reserves, woodlands and family friendly walks.

The Parks and Walks section of the website has proved very popular with local families, especially in recent months, and there are some wonderful 'hidden gems' to discover.

"Getting outdoors is so important for our physical and mental health, and there are so many amazing places right on our doorstep! I have been working hard to showcase new and different places for local families to explore."

What's Next for Coventry Rocks?

It's hard to predict what the next year will bring, but Jess is excited to continue inspiring families in Coventry.

"I've got lots planned for 2021, and I'm looking forward to building on my connections with local communities and businesses. I'll also be expanding the Kids Party section, creating a Shop Local Directory, and launching a YouTube Channel!"
